This week, [personal profile] quility was able to snag a free pass to the zoo from the library. We went on Tuesday and I took photos. Later, I took more photos of Zorro the cat.

This post includes sixteen seconds of Sea Otter video excitement.

My camera is pretty good at deciding where the focal length should be, but sometimes not. Most pictures from the zoo look like this.

They really do have some awesome and impressive fences at the zoo. I got many clear, sharp photos of their nice fences. This one is a chain link fence. It's probably made of galvanized steel and is resistant to many temperatures and weather conditions. It has a light plastic coating that probably comes in a variety of colors, including black.

Behind the fence, there are some animals or something. It's a zoo, so yeah... probably animals.

When we first got to the zoo, we saw a pigeon in the parking lot. It's nice that the zoo lets some of the animals free roam.

We also saw some sculptures, in case we liked looking at animals, but wanted them to hold more still.

Those sculptures are based on these animals.

Here is an otter!

The otters REALLY liked [personal profile] quility.

I suspect that she looks a lot like the person who brings the food. The otters like interacting with everyone, but they clearly liked her the best. She was just the bees knees to this otter.

It was very difficult to tell that this next animal was even alive. It held very, very still. Eventually, we saw evidence that it wasn't another sculpture.

A Wild Pig!

I learned that when going to the zoo, a paper fan is a brilliant prop to show off to animals.

The pigs were especially fascinated. They all came over close to investigate.

Here is another one of those nice fences that they have at the zoo. Behind it, some guy was bringing some meal worms in for the birds to eat. I'd show you a picture of the birds, but it would look like a chain link fence with a bunch of blurry shit behind it.

And finally, a cuddly widdle mountain lion.

Zorro claims this chair in the name of Zorro. This chair was free with the purchase of another chair at the University of Minnesota Re-Use Center. It's Zorro's favorite, probably because it's well guarded on three sides.

Today, he showed this toy mouse who was boss. He moved too quick during the pummeling for a photo. However, you can see in this next photo that the toy mouse has had its ass thoroughly kicked.

Zorro really likes his food. Sometimes, he likes his food so much that he gobbles it until he barfs, and then he eats some more. To help him take tinier gulps and eat slower, he eats from a cookie sheet.

Consequently, he barfs slightly less frequently. Barfing is just one of those awesome things that cats do, but it's nicer when it's not often.

Here is the exciting Sea Otter video you were promised.

The end.
