Moonglove Extract
Jul. 8th, 2010 05:33 pmAnother beer recipe tonight. This one is based on a clone recipe for Dragon's Milk.
We're calling it Moonglove Extract. The potential alcohol is 8.4%
It's brewing now. My first impressions are that it's not very hoppy, but still quite flavorful. It's a very thick and rich consistency, much like most stouts. It smells like sweetened leather. Is that even a smell?
Sure. It is now.
The beer store didn't have a specific brand of malted grain, and they were out of stock on the one ounce bags of a specific variety of hops, and I don't like bourbon, and I scaled back the amount of grains. The final recipe uses twice as many grains as any other recipe I've ever made, the original recipe would have doubled that again.
Here's where it ended up.
Moonglove Extract
.75 # Light Munich
.5 # Briess Caramel 80
.5 # Briess Caramel 120
.86 # Chocolate
6 lbs Gold LME
2 lbs Briess Extra Light DME
1 OZ Columbus Pellet Aroma (60 Min)
.25 OZ Nugget Pellet Bittering (10 Min)
1 OZ Oak Chips
4 oz. Jack Daniels
