CVG Thursday Report

spiderplanetLast night I wound down from CVG and watched lots of television. I got through the third disk of True Blood, watched some Farscape with my sweetie and I finished out the night with Taxi Driver. Netflix recommended Taxi Driver because I enjoyed Stardust, and it makes sense because they're basically the same movie.
Behind the cut text is the first part of my CVG Convention Report. These reports always start with lots of detail and finish with almost nothing, or a link to some remaining photos if you're lucky. This year will be no different I expect.
We left for the hotel at about 1:00PM on Thursday. The first raspberries of the year are out.
For the last few years, I've been meaning to bring our old VHS tapes for the freebie table. This year I remembered them. At around 2:00PM, I dropped off about 80 tapes. At about 2:15, I took this picture. It looks like Alien / Aliens / Alien 3 were among the first to go. Excellent choice, of course.
Here is the same table about two hours later
The last four to go were Bad Boys, Mission Impossible, Basic Instinct and The Fugitive. I did not stick around to find out what the absolute last video tape was.

I played in the garden court with R., the daughter of some friends. Here is a photo and some video of her extolling the virtues of water.
Here is a photo of her denying allegations from the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
An hour after playing with R., a schadenfreude encrusted rumor was passed on to me that I had a grandchild. Assholes.
I played some Beer Pong, and then I videotaped the World Championship Tippy Cup Tournament.
Earlier in the day, I dropped off a few dozen pieces of old flatware, and some kitchen towels for the House of Toast. I don't have a picture of old towels.

One volunteer with the HOT was ever so slightly frustrated by the entrance path to the parties area. We chatted about effective deep breathing techniques for a while, and his mood seemed to improve.
There were other parties of course, too many for me to remember. Here is a video of the flyers on the escalator.
The Mystery Box from Anime Detour was around. I still have absolutely no idea what could be in the Mystery Box.
Here are some more Thursday Hall Costumes
This was possibly the first year that I forgot nothing at home. It's little consolation, as I must come home at least every other day anyway. One of the cats has a rare and stupid condition (watchies nervosa) in which she requires that someone watch her while she eats. She's a chubby thing and could probably get by for a few days without food, but she does need water.
Friday morning, I went back home to watch her eat / drink. I found that a computer had arrived. Though the box is slightly mangled, it was in fine shape. Here's Kali checking. Shipping integrity is very important to cats.
