The Week in Pictures
Feb. 19th, 2010 11:27 pmPhotography is the process of producing images of objects on photosensitive surfaces.
First, here's what it's like to watch television with Dusty

Don't worry, I got that eye booger after the photo was taken.
Last week was the Read The Book/See The Movie club event. The movie was Harrison Bergeron, everyone liked the movie except me, but I hate everything. It is a dystopic movie about everyone being forced to be the same.
For snacks, there were chips, beer, generic twinkies, and three different kinds of vanilla cookies.

To force noises into one's head, there were Pop Rocks.

Here's a picture from the Anime Detour meeting the next day.
Tonight, we made Honey Bee Ale

Next weekend, we will make Octane IPA
To brew beer, first there's steeping, then there's boiling.
Once the boil is done, it's important to cool the wort (unfermented beer) as quickly as possible, and then add the yeast. Wort that is too hot will kill the little yeasty cells.
We make an ice bath in the utility sink, and add ice into the wort as well. I usually buy twenty five pounds of ice at the grocery store, and then we have a bit left over. Today, I only bought five pounds of ice for adding to the wort. For the ice bath that the pot sits in, I found some free ice.

After I knocked the icicles down with a shovel, I smashed them into smaller bits with a hammer. We didn't need near this much ice, and I should have smashed them into smaller bits, but otherwise it worked out well.

And everyone lived happily ever after. The end.
