I just finished watching that AWESOME second part of Doctor Who: The End of Time. I was a bit confused at first, but then I figured out something completely obvious which explains everything.

It all makes perfect sense.

Somewhere on Mars, The Doctor stumbled onto a rusty nail. It's one of the dangers of wearing sneakers all the time, so it was bound to happen eventually. Almost immediately, he began to feel ill, so he found his way back to the TARDIS, popped his favorite movie into the Video Cassette Player (Star Wars), and tried to get some rest.

Unfortunately, The Doctor's shots weren't up to date.

He thrashed about and had terrible fever dreams, one about some "Timelord victorious" thing, and then there was a nightmare about The Master, and everyone turning into the Master, but it was clearly and obviously a dream because The Master could fly and shoot lightning bolts out of his hands, and the Doctor had to fight The Master off with a ship that was just like one he saw in Star Wars.

In his terrible fever dream, he had one of those near death experiences where he saw all of his friends, but they were in bizarre situations that didn't really make any sense. Rassilon showed up, Joan Redfern was there, Luke and Sarah Jane Smith...

Then, The Doctor bought a lottery ticket and went to the Star Wars Cantina to see his good friend Captain Jack, whom he spent a year on a ship being tortured with, so that he could pass Captain Jack a note that would help Jack get laid.

Then it got weird.

Martha Jones and Mickey Smith apparently were married, heck - all the women got married.

The Doctor doesn't actually think that real women can't be happy unless they're married at the end of their run, that would make him kind of a dick, it was a FEVER DREAM.

Then, in his fever dream state, he thrashed about so violently that he smashed up bits of the TARDIS. It was such a violent thrashing that a big piece of the TARDIS impaled Russel T. Davies.

In the face.

Twice.

Then, the tetanus infection finally won out and he regenerated into Matt Smith.

See? All better.
